Health information exchanges are increasingly in the spotlight as governments, healthcare systems, and providers strive to deliver higher quality, more affordable, and more collaborative care. This paper describes the Greater Newark Community HIE, known as Health-e-cITi-NJ. A regional HIE centered in the Newark metropolitan area. Health-e-cITi-NJ is based on a hybrid architectural model that provides a best-of-both-worlds combination of centralized and federated models.
