2008 Actuate: Annual Open Source Survey

Actuate’s comprehensive international annual market study, conducted independently by Survey Interactive, is now into its third year. As such, it provides an unprecedented industry benchmark of organizations’ use of open source, charting changes from year to year and across different international regions. As in previous years, business and IT professionals were invited to take part in an online survey, to provide insights and perspectives into how OSS is perceived, its benefits and inhibitors, and how their organizations plan to harness the technology in the future.The survey findings support Gartner’s projections that, by 2012, at least 80 percent of commercial software solutions will include substantive open source components.
