In response to the expanding adoption of consumer smart devices for business mobility, Wavelink, a business unit of LANDesk Software, announced the availability of its newest mobile device management and wireless infrastructure management software.

Avalanche 5.4 is available through on-premise installation, cloud-based software-as-a-service (Avalanche On Demand) and as a hosted offering (Avalanche Managed Services).

The new offering addresses the growing integration of traditional ruggedized devices and consumer smart devices so IT professionals across industries can manage, secure and deploy a variety of devices and infrastructure components, Wavelink says.

From a single console and through an assortment of delivery mechanisms, Avalanche 5.4 offers simple enrollment, device configuration, device security policies and remote control management.

Avalanche 5.4 is designed to reduce the time, costs and risks associated with managing both consumer and ruggedized business mobile devices by providing new capabilities such as optimized support of the popular iOS6 and Android platforms; and a forced application push option that deploys applications to the user's device on demand.

These new features are in addition to current features, including software and configuration management options, mobile device security, remote help desk, location-based services, alerts and reports, and infrastructure management capabilities.
