New Fraud Framework Featuring SAS Social Network Analysis

SAS introduced three new products to meet the demands of companies in today’s business environment.

SAS is offering a new fraud framework featuring SAS Social Network. The new solution helps organizations increase fraud detection rates, reduce false positives and streamline investigative resources

The framework includes components that support detection and alert generation as well as alert management and case management. Industry-specific business rules, models and other capabilities are designed to help banking, insurance and government organizations prevent and detect fraudulent activities and manage efforts against them.

“In our research of the drivers, strategies and technologies for the global banking industry in 2009, we see analytics to manage fraud and other risk as a prioritized technology initiative for organizations to address the global economic climate,” said Jim Eckenrode, banking and payments research executive with TowerGroup. “With the combined elements of increased regulation and rapidly evolving, cross-channel fraud, we project that banks will need to invest in broader, more firm wide fraud and risk solutions.”

To achieve quick time-to-value with minimal technology support, SAS also introduced a new Internet-based software solution for direct marketing success.

SAS Campaign Management delivered via SaaS provides prepackaged analytical models to improve customer insights and focus marketing programs on the right customers. Templates, prepackaged reports and analytics are built in, and a Web browser is all that organizations need to manage customer lists and start creating campaigns.

“Many businesses need the power of a complete campaign management solution but don't have the time, budget or technical resources for an on-premise installation. Software as a service is a great way for them to get started," said David Raab, principal for Raab Associates Inc. in response to the product’s release.

To help SAS users improve their knowledge, increase their marketability and prepare for certification, the company is also launching a third product - SAS OnDemand for Professional Education.

The solution includes data integration, reporting, predictive analytics and business forecasting technologies. With easy access to applications such as SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Enterprise Miner, users can learn to organize and manipulate messy data, leverage a variety of statistical methods and create reports and graphics to share results.

SAS OnDemand for Professional Education will undergo an early-adoption phase before entering general U.S. availability next year. Ultimately, it will replace SAS Learning Edition. Users of that version will receive support through the remainder of their contracts.
