September 3, 2010 – Standford Hospital & Clinics will outsource management of some of its information technology operations to Accenture.

Under a seven-year contract, terms of which were not disclosed, the Chicago-based consultancy will manage applications and infrastructure, including applicable data centers, networks, help desks and data support.

Stanford's goal is to have the most advanced capabilities and a cost effective solution for managing operations, says CIO Carolyn Byerly.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford has a Stage 7 electronic health records environment, according to HIMSS Analytics, Chicago.

Joseph Goedert is news editor at Health Data Management.
