Oracle Acquires AmberPoint in the Shadow of Sun

February 8, 2010 – Following the EU’s approval of Oracle’s plans to acquire Sun Microsystems two weeks ago, the database, application and middleware giant announced its acquisition of AmberPoint today.

The service-oriented architecture management provider helps diagnose and resolve application performance and business transaction issues. The addition of AmberPoint to the Oracle’s Fusion Middle ware is expected accelerate the resolution of problems prior to business impact, according Oracle’s release.

“We expect that this combination with Oracle will provide enterprise customers with a comprehensive offering that enables even more real-time visibility into their business processes,” John Hubinger, AmberPoint CEO was quoted to say.

The transaction is expected to close the first half of this year. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
