BakBone Software introduced version 4.0 of NetVault: FASTRecover, BakBone's disk-based, real-time data protection solution for Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server and Windows File Servers. It includes a new distributed architecture to protect multiple remote or branch offices across the WAN using a single NVFR infrastructure, real-time data protection and replication converge in NVFR 4.0 to deliver an application and data recovery scenario that reduces downtime and data loss.

MaxxVault Enterprise 4.0 embeds dtSearch to provide search and retrieval capabilities. The dtSearch Engine can index over a terabyte of data in a single index – as well as create and search an unlimited number of indexes.  Proprietary file format support highlights hits in popular file types.  A built-in Spider supports searching of local and remote, public and secure, dynamic and static web data, with WYSIWYG hit-highlighted displays. The dtSearch Engine API supports .NET, Java, C++, SQL, etc., including native 64-bit Windows/Linux support.

Oracle announced the availability of Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing 2.3, which includes enhancements that help utilities boost their customer service, further support their smart grid initiatives, reach new markets and lower total cost of ownership.

SAP AG released SAP Best Practices packages for sustainability, including the SAP Best Practices for Analytics in Health and Safety, SAP Best Practices for Analytics in Product Safety and Stewardship and SAP Best Practices for Analytics in Environmental Compliance packages. The new packages feature role-based, predefined operational analytics that offer line-of-business managers in environment, health and safety, and product area insight into core processes and key information. Enterprise dashboards and reports help customers track the status, trends and corrective actions relating to key EHS and product compliance metrics. The software also provides the flexibility to do personalized analysis using SAP BusinessObjects Explorer software.

VMware, Inc. announced availability of both Java and Python open-source software development kits for the  VMware vCloud API, making it easier for developers and independent software vendors to jumpstart their projects by leveraging private and public cloud services.  The new Python and Java SDKs for the VMware vCloud API will further simplify and accelerate developers’ ability to leverage VMware vCloud services.
