Data integration presents perennial problems for enterprises. Organizations must pull together and reconcile dispersed data for analytic purposes that organizations have maintained in multiple, heterogeneous systems. Data needs to be accessed and extracted, moved and loaded, validated and cleaned, and standardized and transformed. Bob Eve, executive vice president of marketing, Composite says, “Data warehouse appliance adoption has accelerated over the past several years and continues to grow unabated. As a result, you might have several appliances, such as for compliance and task analytics, and need information across both.”
“As enterprises expand their Netezza deployments, it is only natural that they want to gain an even higher return by integrating these important analytic environments,” said David Besemer, Composite Software CTO in the news release. The goal of the Data Virtualizer, says Besemer, is to satisfy this hope and meet these needs.
Eve says what underlies the Data Virtualizer is a “rebranded Composite Information Server, with some additional capabilities.” Philip Howard, research director, Bloor Research said that this release showcases the power and flexibility of Composite’s data virtualization platform. “This is a valuable combination that is unique in the market,” he noted in a statement.
The Netezza Data Virtualizer is licensed and supported by Netezza and will be available in the second half of 2010. Customers will have the option of licensing a full-use version of Composite Information Server, which allows data access to other relational databases, to Web services and XML documents, and enterprise applications from Oracle, Salesforce.com, and SAP, including SAP BW and Oracle Essbase.
