Autonomic Resources LLC was able to fully document and implement security controls with federal information in the cloud along the guidelines set under FedRAMP, a set of standards approved by federal tech executives under the auspices of the Government Accountability Board , according to a federal news release. Federal agencies are able to review Autonomic’s provisional authorization package for security requirements specific to their individual agencies as a possible framework for deployment.
As part of the approval, third-party operator Veris Group audited and accredited Autonomic’s FedRAMP implementation. More approvals are set to come early in 2013.
With previous federal approval for an IaaS platform, Autonomic was accepted into processing for this new set of cloud security standards in July. The Cary, N.C.-based vendor was founded in 2001 and holds cloud partnerships with Red Hat, IBM, Dell and Microsoft.
The FedRAMP standards are a key element to IT upgrades and consolidation across federal agencies, which, when combined, are the largest buyer of information management technologies. The Program Management Office of the FedRAMP initiative will hold a live Web seminar on January 8 to outline the process “from the start of testing through the submission of a final complete package” to the government entity’s repository.
