June 15 - Expedia, the online travel company, has selected Caplan, Neptuny’s flagship product, as its designated capacity planning solution.

Expedia is the largest player in the online travel industry and the first U.S. customer win for Milan-based Neptuny. Online travel agencies use capacity planning to optimize reservation systems between travel agents and airline systems, hotels and car rental agencies.

Caplan addresses Expedia’s requirements for integrating performance metrics from multiple data sources and management tools with an agent-less architecture, simple Web interface and low operational effort for collecting data and creating analyses, models and reports, according to a press release.

"We appreciated Caplan’s support for multiple data formats, integration with a wide range of operational tools, and the capabilities to correlate business and infrastructure KPIs” Karl Armani, Senior Director of Capacity Management at Expedia said in the announcement.

Behind Expedia, the three next largest competitors in online travel are Travelocity, Orbitz and Priceline.
