Sybase Deploys on EC2

Data management and analytics servers now available for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud

August 26, 2009 – Sybase announced the availability of its data management and analytics servers for the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud.

With this release Sybase positions itself to take advantage of a growing cloud services market. Worldwide cloud services revenue is on pace to surpass $56.3 billion in 2009, according to a Gartner report. The market is expected to reach $150.1 billion by 2013.

The servers, including Sybase SQL Anywhere, Sybase IQ and Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise, will allow users to deploy on-demand data systems for mobile, analytics and transactional applications, according to the company release.

Carl Olofson, IDC Research Vice-president of Application Development and Deployment, was quoted in the release to say that cloud computing in an important arena for Sybase, expanding their well established data management capabilities into the Cloud.
