eLearningCurve Announces Certified Information Management Professional Program
Information Management Online, December 18, 2009
(Chicago, IL -- Decemeber 18, 2009) -- Professionals in the growing field of information management can now separate themselves from the pack by securing the industry's first comprehensive certification: CIMP. Designed and launched by eLearningCurve with input from its growing faculty of instructors, the Certified Information Management Professional Program can give practitioners a leg up on the competition in a range of fields, including data quality, data governance, data modeling and master data management.
“Certification can make a big difference in someone’s career,” notes eLearningCurve Education Director Dave Wells, who designed the program and oversees the creation of all associated exams. “This field continues to grow by leaps and bounds, and draws competition from all corners of the world. By securing this new certification, professionals can distinguish themselves from the crowd, and rest assured they have the knowledge and skills to excel in their fields of choice.”
In order to secure the CIMP distinction, applicants must demonstrate comprehension of a body of knowledge within a particular field. This is accomplished by scoring a passing grade in at least four courses within a curriculum. eLearningCurve currently offers 15 exams that correspond with full-length courses designed by leading instructors in the field of Information Management. Professionals do not need to take the courses in order to be certified.

The CIMP program is the second such initiative designed by Wells, who formerly outlined and managed the Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) program for The Data Warehousing Institute. That program focused specifically on business intelligence and data warehousing, and has received widespread recognition throughout the industry.
“Information Management professionals are core assets of the organizations they support, yet their roles and qualifications are poorly documented and misunderstood, even by recruiters and HR departments,” says Jim Ericson, editorial director, Information Management. “This certification not only declares competency; it helps to define the very business, technical and analytical skill sets most in demand at information-driven organizations.”
eLearningCurve is the world's first online educational platform dedicated to the field of information management. The site currently offers 15 half-day and full-day courses, all mounted on a professional Learning Management System. Students get 30 days to absorb the material. Exams are sold separately.
