December 23, 2010 - Dell Inc. will acquire medical diagnostic image archiving vendor InSiteOne Inc. for an undisclosed price.

InSiteOne has clients at more than 800 clinical sites and manages nearly 55 million clinical studies and 3.6 billion images. Its Web-based technology supports all PACS, data sources and modalities, according to the Wallingford, Conn.-based firm.

InSiteOne works with DICOM and non-DICOM data. Consequently, Round Rock, Texas-based Dell will offer the vendor’s platform to archive content for companies in other markets, such as the petroleum and industrial sectors, according to a spokesperson. The technology will be offered on a subscription or pay-as-you-go basis.
