The Open Data Center Alliance and Cloud Security Alliance said they would work together to speed the delivery of security techniques that would in turn speed the adoption of cloud computing services.
Financial services firms have been reluctant to put strategic operations or applications onto servers that they do not control, for fear of attack on or disruption of those services, as the board of the data center alliance acknowledged in announcing the collaboration Thursday at the Andaz Hotel on Wall Street.
Andrew Stokes, chief scientist for global technology engineering at Deutsche Bank said the data center alliance hopes to produce standards and guidelines for what it terms bronze, silver, gold and platinum level security, when a financial firm puts a process or application into the cloud.
At first, the groups will try to align the ODCA’s Cloud Service Provider Assurance and Monitoring requirements with CSA’s breakdown of best practices. They will also collaborate on cloud security certification training and testing.
Initial results from the collaboration are targeted for the first half of 2012.
