JDA Software Acquires Strategix Shares

July 16, 2009 – JDA Software Group, Inc. acquired 49 percent of equity stakes in Europe-based business-performance solutions companies Strategix Enterprise Technology GmbH and Strategix Enterprise Technology z o.o., according to a JDA statement.

Strategix will team with JDA’s existing operations in Europe to expand JDA’s presence for manufacturing and retailing throughout Central, Eastern Europe and Russia, expanding on their existing customer base largely focused on the Intactix suite of products acquired by JDA in 2000, the release said.

As a result of the economic downturn, forecasts for software spending in Eastern Europe changed significantly last month, according to a Gartner Report. Spending in the region is expected to reach €4.6 billion in 2009, with only 4 percent predicted growth, the slowest year-over-year performance of any emerging European area.

Hamish Brewer, chief executive officer of JDA Software was quoted in the release to say that while JDA has historically struggled in the European market, Strategix’s success and reputation will provide a solid foundation for expanding JDA’s presence throughout the region going forward.

The transaction, which closed on July 7, provides JDA the option to purchase all remaining shares of both companies in the future. JDA will also gain selected rights to Strategix-developed applications for manufacturers and retailers.
