September 16, 2009 – Actuate, BIRT and Infobright released a new downloadable integrated virtual machine.

The new business intelligence solution is a joint product of two of the largest open source communities. The new release is based on Infobright’s open source analytic database and open source data visualization technology from BIRT, according to a company release.

The combination of BIRT’s column-oriented analytic database and Infobright’s virtual machine allows users to access and personalize large amounts of data without obstructing response time or interactivity, according to an Acutate statement.

The solution can develop information applications. Infobright’s database is designed for analytics, reports and queries on large amounts of data. Paired with BIRT Report Designer, developers can create data visualizations via a “Google-like” interface, according to the release.
