October 12, 2010 – With the latest edition of QlikTech’s flagship business intelligence solution, QlikView 10, developers focused on speed.

Launched today, QlikView 10 has new aspects that seek to shave seconds off searches and return refined data for analysis, says Anthony Deighton, QlikTech senior vice president of products. In internal beta testing, QlikTech estimates that customers on multi-core machines can expect 200-1,000-percent improvement in data loading performance, according to a news release on the product.

Data objects refresh in real time without the user having to refresh the entire screen, and the associative search feature provides results as you type, in a manner similar to Google’s new Instant Search component.

“You don’t have to wait for the page to be fully loaded. It’s ready when you are,” Deighton says.

In addition, the sped up search feature should refine searches when only partial information is known or remembered by a user because of the links made by QlikView’s in-memory tools, Deighton says.

With one new analysis tool, the Mekko chart, the length, height and width have varying metrics for dimensional, layered visuals. Other features promoted by QlikTech include QlikView app creation, sharing and mash ups, with extensions into existing applications like SharePoint or Google Maps or embedding into social media sites.

Deighton says that the drive toward fast search and data features in QlikView 10 is based on feedback from its thousands of users and reviews from outside sources.

“We do listen very carefully and follow what they’re interested in for products that make us accessible,” he says.
