Telx Tuesday morning formally opened a data center in Clifton, N.J., bringing to 15 the number of facilities it operates nationwide that provide direct connections to high-performance networks and financial exchanges.

The center, at 100 Delawanna Avenue in Clifton includes 24,000 square feet of colocation space and "plug in" access to market data providers, analytics and order management system suppliers, trading firms, and sell-side broker-dealers.

On March 31, Telx said Lightower Fiber Networks of Boxborough, Mass., will connect its network services to the center. Lightower operates 4,500 miles of fiber and broadband links in New England.

Telx also provides disaster recovery and data center services at 100 Delawanna Avenue to the International Securities Exchange and Direct Edge, operators of options and equities trading venues.

The Clifton facility will connect to existing Telx facilities on 60th Street and Eighth Avenue in New York City as well as in Weehawken, N.J.

Telx also operates two centers in Chicago, two in Dalas, three in California and one each in Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix and Charlotte.

Telx is a portfolio company of GI Partners, a private equity firm based on Sand Hill Road in Silicon Valley.

In December 2006, Digital Realty Trust, owner and manager of technology-related real estate, and Telx entered into an agreement whereby Telx now owns and manages interconnection facilities in 10 Digital Realty Trust buildings in the United States.
