ScaleXtreme introduced this week a cloud-based patch management automation service for use in virtual machines and physical servers.

The new offering enables companies to automate all of their routine server management tasks through a single framework, according to the company, which provides server automation products for distributed data centers.

With the ScaleXtreme service, organizations can now set up on-demand or scheduled scans of their enterprise physical servers and virtual machines as well as public cloud servers. ScaleXtreme supports both Windows and Linux servers through the same integrated system, allowing companies to deploy patches on the fly or on a specific schedule.

Patches can also be scheduled for deployment during periods of planned maintenance, the company says.
