Server Manager Boosts Cloud Scalability

ScaleXtreme Inc., a server management company, this week introduced Dynamic Server Assembly, a product update that gives uses of the company’s Express and Xpert products the ability to quickly create highly structured servers.

With Dynamic Server Assembly, organizations can now model, provision and launch servers with a variety of cloud computing providers. The technology enables companies to create specific structures, or templates, and then easily apply them to new machines across cloud and server systems, allowing them to create automated and repeatable systems to help scale cloud deployments.

The on-demand structuring and deployment allows organizations to drive servers and workloads to different cloud systems upon request.

“Enterprises are often so eager to adopt cloud services that they fire away and forget that successful cloud computing goes beyond just launching server drones,” Bernd Harzog, analyst at The Virtualization Practice, said in a statement. “It is important for enterprises to ensure they automate the process of building, launching and managing their servers and create repeatable server configurations to help scale their deployments. This also allows them to easily transport their server configuration from one cloud provider to another, using technology like Dynamic Server Assembly.”

ScaleXtreme provides a single, unified view to provision and manage servers throughout the lifecycle of a machine. The company says the new functionality complements the existing server management capabilities ScaleXtreme already provides. That gives customers the ability to manage both their existing servers and launch new ones, whether they are local or hosted in the cloud.

ScaleXtreme’s Dynamic Server Assembly functionality is available to any company using the ScaleXtreme Xpress and Xpert products in the cloud, without the need for a software update.
