Oracle President Mark Hurd, Taleo CEO and Chairman Michael Gregoire and Oracle development EVP Thomas Kurian led a presentation Friday discussing the $1.9 billion deal for Taleo proposed earlier this month.
Taleo will be integrated with Oracle’s Public Cloud and Oracle Fusion HR SaaS, moves that extend social networking, identity management and analytics with the talent management provider’s offerings, according to presentation materials. Oracle will also offer and support existing Taleo products, including Taleo Business Edition and human capital management software and cloud offerings for non-Oracle systems.
Following customary approvals, the deal is anticipated to close by mid-year. Oracle also made another related move in the space in October, buying customer experience management provider RightNow for $1.5 billion. Both moves have been touted as integral to Oracle’s Public Cloud platform, the centerpiece of its strategy on cloud services and infrastructure.
This outline came a few days after SAP gave a rundown of its short-term plans with rival HCM provider SuccessFactors. After a briefing on those plans, Saugatuck Technology analyst Mike West wrote that while the long-range plans have yet to be settled, the independent operation of SuccessFactors in the short-term focus that provider’s offerings on immediate growth and options for new and existing customers.
