“This new practice will focus on the tremendous opportunity to bring consumer-style user experience and scale to mobile enterprise applications,” David Northington, CEO of GlobalOne, said in a statement.
GlobalOne Mobility will provide a combination of mobile consumer application expertise along with cloud computing, software-as-a-service (SaaS), customer relationship management, and social enterprise experience to deliver mobile cloud applications. The new group will help clients build a roadmap for mobile applications within their organization and then build and deploy mobile social enterprise apps that extend the cloud to mobile devices.
“Companies are struggling with employees and partners who want to use mobile devices as their main business tool,” Doug Maloney, vice president of mobility at GlobalOne and head of the new practice, said in a statement. “But most organizations only support a few traditional mobile applications such as email, calendaring and contact management. Corporations can significantly improve productivity by delivering key business applications for smartphones and tablets where the user experience matches the expectations set by consumer apps.”
To date, usability, scalability and data integration challenges have limited innovation in enterprise mobile apps, Maloney said. “This new team has the expertise to overcome these challenges and bring a whole new era of mobile apps to the enterprise,” he said.
