CSC unveiled its cloud go-to-market strategy this week, which includes a virtual development and testing environment for cloud services, several enterprise offerings, new data centers, and a Web portal to purchase cloud services.

The Falls Church, Va.-headquartered consulting company said the foundation of its strategy is a “business first approach” under which CSC will evaluate an enterprise’s business processes and identify those which will generate the greatest return on investment from cloud services.

To support its cloud initiatives, CSC said it has opened seven data centers in Chantilly, Va., Newark, Del., and Chicago in the U.S., as well as centers in Australia, Denmark, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom.

CSC also announced availability of CloudLab, a cloud-based development and test service, delivered in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, and CloudExchange, a cloud-based email and collaboration offering based on Microsoft Exchange 2010.

CSC said CloudExchange will support large-scale email environments, including instant messaging and video, and such collaboration services as calendar, document sharing and spreadsheets.

“In today’s global and technologically advanced marketplace, large organizations are recognizing the need for workplace collaboration,” Siki Giunta, CSC vice president of cloud computing, said in a statement announcing the cloud roadmap and related offerings. “Advancements in the cloud are enabling global performance improvements.”

Giunta was hired by CSC in May to head its global cloud strategy. Prior to joining CSC she was president and CEO of Fortisphere, a Chantilly, Va., company offering virtualization management software.
