The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives has published "The CIO's Guide to Implementing EHRs in the HITECH Era."

The guidance from the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based association covers steps from initial planning to meet meaningful use requirements to final documentation of results. Nearly 170 CHIME members provided information on real-world experiences to develop the best practices guide, available here.

The CIO-specific publication follows guidance CHIME recently developed with the American Hospital Association to help CEOs and other senior leadership better understand issues related to implementation of electronic health records, available here.
