The acquisition would cap a string of acquisition of cloud-computing-management-related vendors by CA. The others include Cassatt, NetQoS and Oblicore.
“CIOs can use cloud computing to build and manage a new type of IT ‘supply chain’ across today’s virtualized internal and external technology infrastructure,” said Chris O’Malley, executive vice president of CA’s Cloud Products & Solutions Business Line, in a statement announcing the deal. “3Tera technology is a powerful addition to the total solution CA provides for optimizing these high-value supply chains -- from the mainframe to the cloud.”
3Tera’s flagship system is AppLogic. According to 3Tera, AppLogic simplifies the design and deployment of composite applications as a single entity in a cloud computing environment. By unifying application configuration, application deployment, and a virtual server fabric, the company says, AppLogic can help reduce costs, improve productivity and increase service quality.
AppLogic lists Buy.com, BT, Gateway Broadcom, Emulex, FileNet, Jewelry.com, Qlogic, Quest Software, and Western Digital among its customers.
