WALTHAM, Mass., Feb. 26, 2001 – Unitas Corporation, formed through a strategic merger of Cambridge and Waltham information technology consulting firms, has officially launched operations as a developer and integrator of enterprise portals, it was announced today.
Unitas will differentiate itself from web developers and e-commerce consultants by focussing on the growing market and unique requirements for enterprise portals and providing a full range of enterprise portal services, from an initial assessment of a company’s needs through the strategy, design, implementation, and enterprise-wide integration.
"Unitas has hit the ground running with an impressive array of top-notch clients, including Kodak, AT&T, Dunkin Donuts, and OrderTrust," said Errol James, president of Unitas Corporation. "We are excited to pursue the burgeoning enterprise portal market as the first and only ‘pure-play’ IT services company to focus on this huge opportunity."
An enterprise portal makes information from all of a company’s databases available at the desktop, along with any other inside or outside information deemed pertinent. Corporations are reporting savings of tens of millions of dollars after implementing such portals. Merrill Lynch has projected the business for enterprise portals to grow from its current $4 billion to $5 billion annual market to more than $14 billion by 2002. Additional research shows that over 70 percent of the projected dollars in the enterprise portal market will be spent on the type of design and implementation services and solutions that Unitas provides.
