LSI Logic and NCR Corporation Team to Set New Data Warehousing Performance Standard
Information Management Online, August 26, 1999
Wichita, Kan., Aug. 25, 1999 - LSI Logic Storage Systems, Inc. announced that its storage was a key factor in helping NCR Corporation set a precedent for the first-ever TPC-R data warehouse performance benchmark. The new benchmark, which was developed by the Transaction Processing Performance Council (TPC), measures the performance of common data warehousing activities with multiple, concurrent users submitting complex queries.
LSI Logic has worked in partnership with NCR to develop the new WorldMark Enterprise Storage system, engineered for teradata and designed to deliver the high availability and performance demanded by the teradata warehouse customer. The configuration for the new benchmark included the NCR WorldMark 5200 MPP server, NCR's teradata database and their WorldMark Enterprise Storage utilizing scalable quad-channel modular arrays from LSI Logic. The new array incorporates LSI Logic advanced fourth-generation controller technology supplying four times the I/O bandwidth of previous record-breaking solutions.
