September 9, 2008 - Online backup and storage provider Data Deposit Box enhanced its online backup service with the launch of its Open Files Driver, which is designed specifically to protect open and in-use files.
While Data Deposit Box has provided continuous backup for all other data files, the program now also automatically backs up all open files every twelve hours so that no files will be lost or left unprotected.
Open Files is a useful feature for applications typically left open for long periods of time, such as Outlook, QuickBooks and Simply Accounting, according to Data Deposit Box. It also provides added advantages for servers, allowing a "backup snapshot" of data every twelve hours.
"In the past, open and in-use files were skipped during the backup process," said Jamie Brenzel, CEO of Data Deposit Box. "Offering Open Files is another part of our commitment to providing our customers with the most comprehensive data protection possible."
