The Department of Health and Human Services has licensed Web-based customer relationship management and project management software for use in regional extension centers that will provide technical assistance for providers implementing electronic health records.

The software is funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The extension centers will use the software of Salesforce.com Inc., which the San Francisco-based vendor will remotely host. Acumen Solutions Inc., a Vienna, Va.-based government contractor, will provide implementation services.

The software will aid extension centers in managing and tracking all interactions with providers related to their selection and implementation of an EHR. Detailed terms of the multi-million dollar contract were not immediately available. More information is at salesforce.com and acumensolutions.com.
