Snapshot On Master Data Management

Master data management has emerged as a key area of information management in recent years. According to a new study from analyst firm The Information Difference, one-third of responding organizations have already implemented some form of MDM and another 32 percent plan to do so in the next three years.

Though there is agreed preference for a unified approach to MDM, there is disagreement among respondents about the style and scope of implementation and differing approaches to operational, registry and analytic MDM. Approximately one-third of respondents who had already implemented MDM and one-third of those planning to do so will implement both operational and analytic.

Study results showed that respondents generally considered their implementations "somewhat successful," with approximately one-quarter responding their implementations had been "very successful."
