Cisco released its converged data center platform, the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), and Cisco WebEx Social for Higher Education, its integrated cloud-based collaboration solution. Cisco UCS integrates Cisco servers, and network and I/O resources and offers unified, model-based management, as well as Cisco Fabric Extender technology, where the network fabric is extended directly to blade servers and virtual machines, with traffic meeting at a single point. Cisco WebEx Social for Higher Education allows users to identify subject matter experts, gather group feedback and co-author document; features WebEx Meeting, WebEx Social and Web Messenger; and allows user personalization, by adding portlets, RSS feeds and OpenSocial-compliant gadgets.
Digium unveiled Asterisk 11, the latest person of its open source communication software. New features include WebSockets SIP transport, DTLS-SRTP support, as well as support for ICE, STUN and TURN.
EMC announced a series of updates to its portfolio of content management products and solutions. EMC Documentum Platform 7.0, its ECM platform built with EMC xCelerated Management System technology, simplifies and accelerates the deployment of Documentum into VMware-based private-cloud environments, and offers FIPS compliance. EMC Documentum xCP2.0, a platform for developing and deploying business and case management solutions, features a new user experience, as well as content and process analytics. EMC Document Sciences xPression 4.5 provides IT with enterprise-level administration and change control and features a single rules-based template, which improves multi-channel publishing productivity. EMC Documentum Information Rights Management 5.1 enables secure mobile enterprise access on iPad or iPhone. EMC SourceOne File Intelligence 4.7 enables organizations to identify, assess, classify and manage content throughout the enterprise. EMC SourceOne eDiscovery – Karzeon 4.7, its in-house eDiscovery and Early Case Assessment platform, now accelerates early case assessment. EMC Syncplicity Connector for Documentum allows organizations to distribute content form Documentum to user’s mobile devices.
HP announced new products and services for SMBs. HP StoreVirtual Storage, its scale-out storage platform with flexible deployment models, enables the addition of physical storage without disruption and movement of data across virtual or physical storage. HP StorageEasy Storage, its integrated storage solution that supports file and application workloads with built-in deduplication and encryption, can support up to 10,000 users, as well as multiple workloads. HP M2200 Series Access Point, its network management and maintenance solution, enables deployment and management of up to 10 network access points as a single entity and detection of rogue access points, improving network security.
HP also released two new solutions for functional and mobile testing. HP Unified Functional Testing 11.5 automates functional testing earlier in the life cycle for both GUIs and APIs and also features push-button manual-to-automated script conversion, as well as automatic application recognition. HP UFT Mobile extends functional testing capabilities to mobile devices in both public and private cloud environments on multiple mobile operating systems, including Android and Apple iOS.
Microsoft updated Microsoft Dynamic CRM Online. The latest version offers role-specific user experiences, integration with Yammer and Skype, support for Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome, and cloud extensibility options, including support for custom Microsoft .NET Workflow Services and new bulk data APIs.
NetApp released its FAS3200 Series, a group of midrange data storage and management platforms. These data storage systems have up to 2TB of flash, support clustered NetApp Data ONTAP, nondisruptive operations for hardware and software upgrades, and transparent load balancing.
Pentaho announced to capabilities to its data integration and business analytics platform. Pentaho Business Analytics Enterprise Edition now includes Instaview, its interactive application for big data in Hadoop, MongoDB, Cassandra and HBase, and Pentaho Mobile, its mobile BI app for the iPad.
Talend announced version 5.2 of Talend Platform for Big Data. Upgrades feature big data profiling with Hadoop, with the ability to analyze data in Hive databases without extraction and to performance data cleansing, enrichment, matching and deduplication directly inside of the Hadoop cluster, as well as support for NoSQL databases.
Tier 3, an enterprise cloud platform provider, announced support for Red Hat solutions. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is available to customers of Tier 3’s IaaS and Paas. Added features include the ability to create configuration templates for virtual machines specifications, as well as the software that runs atop them, and management features to administer servers in less time, with the ability to automatically apply tasks, scripts and updates against multiple servers at once.
TwinStrata unveiled CloudArray 4.0, its cloud-integrated storage solution with enterprise-class storage capabilities. This solution natively supports both network-attached storage and storage area network protocols, along with SMB, SMB2, CIF and in-cloud appliance deployments in cloud compute environments.
Workday announced its latest update, Workday 18, which brings new capabilities to its enterprise cloud application for human resources and finance. New features include project scenario planning, improved global tax and payment support, and collaboration and mobile capabilities, such as unified views of employees, an iPad app and Time Tracking.
