Centerline Capital Group Selects Cartesis 10 as Foundation for Performance Management Future

Centerline Capital Group, one of the nation's full-service real estate finance companies, has selected Cartesis 10, the integrated platform for financial planning, consolidation and analytics. The Cartesis 10 solution will support Centerline's strategic business objectives in addition to tackling enterprise-wide performance management challenges.

With more than 500 employees in 10 offices throughout the United States, Centerline needed a fully integrated solution in order to keep the company's various internal teams strategically aligned. Cartesis 10 will alleviate Centerline's current reliance on spreadsheets for data collection and manipulation. Switching from a manual, labor-intensive spreadsheet process is necessary to meet the company's increasing budgeting and reporting needs.

"Prior to Cartesis 10, any requests for additional reports or updates to the forecast required spending considerable time on changes in the excel model," said Thomas Speroni, Vice President of Budgeting and Forecasting at Centerline. "Cartesis 10 allows us to plan and forecast in significantly less time as well as benefit from the strategic advantages offered by the solution, including what-if scenarios and competitor benchmarking. In addition to our enhanced forecasting capabilities, our overall budgeting process has improved, especially with the support for the driver-based budgeting process."

Centerline now has the ability to integrate planning and management reporting, modeling and analytic reporting into a single application that is easy to use and manage. Users can create plans and forecasts with relevant business drivers and supporting details and drill-down through those plans for analysis in real-time. Cartesis 10 also provides Centerline the power to change plans and forecasts by taking into account surrounding business issues that may impact the company. Additionally, the dashboards and key performance indicators in Cartesis 10 will help Centerline visualize and gain information required for better decision making. One of the key requirements for Centerline in selecting a performance management solution was compatibility with its existing Microsoft SQL server investment. Cartesis developed its Analytics product line around Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Service 2005 Analysis Services to ensure seamless integration with the MS platform for Centerline.

Group Danone Case Study

Group Danone, the world's leading maker of fresh dairy products and bottled water and the second largest provider of biscuits and cereal products, has deployed ILOG Plant PowerOps (PPO) at one of its largest fresh dairy plants in Irapuato, Mexico. Thanks to the use of ILOG PPO, the plant has moved from weekly production planning with mixed scheduling quality to daily planning and high-quality scheduling, improving throughput and customer service while reducing waste and maximizing shelf life quality.

Group Danone is one of the world's largest food and beverage companies, with 88,000 employees and worldwide sales of over $18.5 billion in 2006. Approximately 56 percent of Danone's revenue comes from its fresh dairy product division, which has more than 40 plants worldwide. The division grew over nine percent in 2006 and experienced growth rates exceeding 20 percent in many major emerging markets, including Argentina, Mexico, Russia and Turkey.

ILOG PPO also serves as a collaboration tool between the manufacturing and supply chain departments, allowing them to more easily find the best balance between inventory levels and operational efficiency. Now, everyone involved can see the impact of unexpected changes in demand on the manufacturing process, as well as the impact of manufacturing operational decisions on inventory levels and order fulfillment rates.

"While comparing production plans generated with and without ILOG Plant PowerOps, we have been extremely happy to see that ILOG's application generates plans that improve every single one of our key performance indicators. Our plant in Irapuato is now equipped with an excellent planning and scheduling tool providing the best possible plans, while improving our operational flexibility and our ability to react quickly to unexpected events. Within Danone, the news is spreading quickly. We already have more requests for implementation in the next two years than we can satisfy. We are currently implementing the solution in Russia, with Argentina next in line," said Jean-Michel Egu, Director Business Solution at Danone.

Omnium Worldwide Selects IBM Balanced Warehouse to Enhance Data and Accounts Receivable Collections

Omnium Worldwide, a national provider of accounts receivable and cost containment management solutions in the telecommunications, healthcare, insurance and financial services industries, has tapped IBM's new DB2 Balanced Warehouse to enhance the accuracy of information used by its accounts receivable and debt collection units.

Omnium chose the dynamic warehousing capabilities of IBM's Balanced Warehouse for its ability to seamlessly integrate with Omnium's SAS environment. This allows Omnium to quickly analyze large volumes of data and identify duplicate payments, under- or over-payments and other material inaccuracies that occur more frequently as information management complexity increases within key business-to-business and business-to-consumer industries. These transactional mistakes are often buried under volumes of data and the high cost of detection has typically resulted in these mistakes being written off as a cost of doing business.

"IBM's Data Warehouse solution allows us to analyze large volumes of data and identify those transactions that our predictive scoring models utilize to determine the probability that a transaction is an overpayment," said Ed Peabody, Director of Technical Consulting, Omnium Worldwide. "A key factor in our decision to choose IBM was their ability to meet our need for rapid analysis and turnaround of data. Of all the vendors we looked at, only IBM succeeded in addressing our requirements for fast response time."
