2012 Innovative Solution Award Winners

Winners were chosen in six categories based on the solution’s degree of complexity, level of innovation, project breadth, and qualitative and quantitative results.

Winner: Vancouver Coastal Health
Achievement: VCH developed the Patient Continuum, which provides a rich set of patient analytics that allowed the health care provider to improve care and service levels.

Business Process Management Award Business Process Management Award

Winner: Heathrow Limited, formerly BAA (working with vendor partner Pegasystems).
Achievement: Heathrow Limited developed the Airport-Collaborative Decision Making system, a tightly coordinated air-traffic management solution that enables faster flight turnaround times at Heathrow airport, which handles an average of 1,300 flights and 90 different airlines. The solution has improved on-time arrivals and departures by 15 percent.

Data Integration Award Data Integration Award

Winner: NYSE Euronext (working with vendor partner Composite Software).
Achievement: NYSE Euronext created a system to support Web access to market data for external users, such as listing companies and member firms, and chose a specific data virtualization project to intelligently store and access data across powerful computer systems, which improved the overall performance of its data-delivery environment.

Data Warehousing Award Data Warehousing Award

Winner: Cisco Systems Inc. (working with vendor partner Teradata).
Achievement: Cisco’s IT department worked with the company’s business units to reorganize and consolidate existing applications under one enterprise data warehouse. The new system is providing Cisco with fresher, near-real-time data.

Performance Management Award Performance Management Award

Winner: Chickasaw Nation Division of Commerce (working with partner Northwood Advisors).
Achievement: CNDC, which implemented IBM Cognos BI and Enterprise Planning software, created an internal competency center to develop business-analytics expertise and establish data-governance best practices, which has increased organizational efficiency throughout the organization.

General Achievement Award General Achievement Award

Winner: MLC & NAB Wealth (working with vendor partner Teradata Corporation).
Achievement: MLC, the wealth management division of the National Australia Bank, developed a one-of-a-kind online tool that allows its advisers to log in, mine customer data and launch event-based marketing campaigns.
