BEST PRACTICES: ORCHESTRATING A ROADMAP FROM REFERENCE DATA TO MDM
Recently GAI has been on a journey to clean and harmonize master data and reference data throughout their business to feed both operational and analytical systems, from underwriting and claims to function-specific data warehouses. GAI’s program began with reference data management and is quickly moving to MDM. Bringing new processes, disciplines and systems into place has inspired new thinking and new approaches to address reference data management and the benefits it can bring to a well-established business. In this session, Donna will describe the journey GAI is on and will cover the technical and process attributes employed to date to replace legacy environments and deliver business value early in the cycle.
Topics to be discussed include
- GAI’s approach to managing disparate reference data repositories
- Why starting with reference data management was the right place to begin
- How the program evolved from simple data stewardship to a need for more formal governance
