A data center is an owned or rented physical location in which computing infrastructure assets are housed, managed and secured for the purpose of storing applications and data for computing operations. Many corporate data centers are privately owned and operated; some other organizations “colocate,” maintain and operate their owned equipment in a secured third party facility shared with other customers. Commercial data centers also offer managed services to operate and maintain customer equipment.
