Hi Boris, Interesting and useful article. Vendors are typically trying to find a way to align their pricing with value derived.

There is one emerging pricing scheme that you've missed - that is volume of data processed or stored. Splunk, for example charges by the number of Gb/Tb processed (indexed) per day. Pivotal Greenplum, I believe is charging by Tb stored. This is interesting because you can start small and access big scale capability.
