There's no substitute for innovation-savvy execs at the top, because brainstorming and crowd sourcing results end up there. The genius of Steve Jobs was that he innovated and welcomed others' ideas that bubbled up at Apple. But Cisco's next big thing of 2007 didn't quite turn out as good as the iPod/Phone/Pad, did it? And taking swipes at Six Sigma is misguided, because with regard to mass production and industrial safety, what we NEED is same-old! Whatever the contests produce, there has to be someone who can push past the status quo. It ain't easy, or Washington would do it too!
