Very interesting post. There's a lot of stuff up these days about who owns data, is responsible for it, and even how infrequently data plays a role in major business decisions. and of course, there's the question of who's to blame when bad data drives bad decisions.

Here's my question though: the folks making the decisions in business today are mostly not scientists. And, even if they are, the people who are demanding their decisions aren't scientists and therefore don't build in reasonable time frames for scientific inquiry.

How do you get to a place where the business respects the process of data quality, governance,enhancement, analysis etc. so that they support it with the time and resources necessary to support a sensible, scientific process?
